CLAIRE GABRIEL'S VOYAGER STORIES
Claire already had the beginnings of a Voyager epic in her head, and when she wrote the first installment, "Fireflies", I promptly directed it toward Now Voyager for publication. "All the Songs" is quite simply my favorite J/C story, and I begged Claire to make it available to other fans. I think the number of people I sent to her demanding to read it finally convinced her to let me post it here. You can also find links here to her Classic Trek novel "Simple Gifts" and its sequel. Her classic story "Ni Var" remains in Bantam's anthology, Star Trek: The New Voyages.

A NOTE FROM YOUR CRUISE DIRECTOR
I "met" Claire Gabriel in the '80s when a friend loaned me her wonderful Classic Trek fan novel Simple Gifts. I wrote her a LOC praising her story and picking a fight over her characterization of Vulcan abortion law, we corresponded via mail for awhile. Then, as happens sometimes, we drifted out of touch as I strayed from Trek fandom. As happens sometimes, I strayed back into Trek fandom when Deep Space Nine came on the air, and then I fell in love with Kathryn Janeway. Around that time, I got a note from Claire, who knew me only by my screen name, asking for information about Now Voyager and wondering whether I knew where she could track down a J/C story in which the captain and first officer played a holonovel of Wuthering Heights. I had to admit to being responsible for both publications.
